I set up an Instagram account after the finish of the expedition.
Here I am posting images and reels from my Journey plus latest updates of what I’m currently up to.
An old Quechua man warms himself in a welcoming morning sunbeam in the high altitude Andean town of Viraco Peru.
You can see the 6,377 metres (20,922 ft) volcanic peak of Nevado Coropuna mountain dominating the skyline in the background. I could see Coropuna for quite a few days as I descended the Andes and headed toward the Pacific Ocean.

“September 5th is Amazon Rainforest Day, commemorated across Brazil since 1850 to mark the creation of the Province of Amazonas. Today, everyone knows that the Amazon is one of humanity’s most indispensable natural heritages, covering an area of 6.7 million square kilometers over Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Suriname, Venezuela, and French Guyana. There are about 33 million people who inhabit the Amazon basin. Despite its crucial importance, the Amazon is seriously threatened by human activities, including logging, mining, infrastructure construction, and forest conversion into pasture and cropland.” ~ internationaldays.co

Today 20th July - The 55th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.
This is still IMO the most significant achievement in exploration and adventure in humanity’s history.
To leave the earth and actually walk upon the surface of another planet, then return to earth successfully.
I was over the moon! to see first hand the actual flag taken on that journey displayed at the explorers club in NYC when I did my presentation there in May of this year. (Photo)
I was standing on the shoulders of giants that day.

Encountering wasps in the jungle was an everyday occurrence.
These Paper Wasps of Central America are difficult to see when trekking in the rainforest.
I lost count of the times I was attacked and stung multiple times by these after accidentally cutting the foliage with my machete where they had built their nest.
I can’t blame them, it’s their home, you just have to grin and bear it, and even laugh about it after the pain has subsided.

The covalent bonding of 2 Hydrogen atoms to 1 Oxygen atom at angle of 104.45° no less ! creates the water molecule, H2O- vital for all known forms of life on earth.
Finding fresh water was vital especially in dry season in the rainforest as I was constantly drinking keeping myself hydrated.
It was a fear I initially had of dying due to dehydration & heat exhaustion. But as time passed I got to understand the lay of the land and knew where to find water, so my fear subsided somewhat.
I would frequently have to change the planned route after studying the topography on my digital map to find a water source or river to make camp.
I would add 1 drop of chlorine to my 700ml bottle and wait for 20 minutes before drinking it. Most of my guides didn’t bother to do this.
